PIRIE HAS EASY BUSH WIN

The former Olympian D. A. G. Pirie (Pupuke) gained a slashing victory over R. King and A. Brown in the North Shore conducted open Orienteering senior elite race in South Woodhill State forest yesterday morning.

Pirie covered the 6OO0m rugged course of 12 controls in 51m to lead Pupuke to a comfortable teams race victory.

A husband and wife, Mrs Elsa Moen and the 63 year old veteran S. Moen (Central) also had individual wins in the women's and veterans' divisions respectively.

And at Tokoroa, at Amisfield School, over a course which offered limited mobility because of blackberry, the New Zealand women's cross-country representative Mrs Val Robinson (Pinelands) defeated the current national women's orienteering champion, Mrs Robyn Davies.
